David Ellis
David Ellis, CEO, and co-founder of MassAmerican Energy and Hampshire Power Corporation is a highly experienced solar industry leader and seasoned business veteran.
He spent 12 years in the Manufacturing Liquidation business, serving the Turnaround & Restructuring industry. His extraordinary team-building skills brought together the equipment, WIP, accounts receivable, intellectual property and real estate experts that delivered the cash flow in the timeframes needed for successful turnarounds. Ellis’s leadership skills have been key attributes to his past and present success.
Ellis transitioned from the liquidation to the solar industry in 2010. He began his solar career with Sunrun managing its existing east coast partners and bringing on new partners, which led to Sunrun’s highly successful expansion into east coast markets.
Ellis then brought Next Step Living into partnership with Sunrun and became the head of the Solar Division. Under David’s leadership, Next Step Living become the largest residential solar company on the east coast with more than 100 monthly installations.
Always the entrepreneur, in 2012, Ellis co-founded Boston-based MassAmerican Energy, serving as the company’s Managing Director. MassAmerican focused on C&I solar markets. During this time, MassAmerican developed and installed more than 100 projects.
In 2020, MassAmerican Energy expanded into retail power supply, and attribute monetization with the acquisition of Hampshire Power Corporation, also based in Massachusetts. The companies now do business under the Gridwealth brand and offer expanded services that include energy consulting, power procurement, C&I scale solar, traditional solar farm and battery storage development. Gridwealth generates long-term revenue for customer buildings, while reducing GHG emissions.
Quincy Vale
Quincy is an attorney and general contractor with expertise in solar policy, economics, and installations. With a 25-year solar career, he has worked for the Massachusetts DPU and the Renewable Energy Trust Fund. Quincy has provided legal services for various clean energy and green building projects ranging from hydropower to biofuels. Quincy received a BS in engineering from Dartmouth College and holds an MBA from Yale University, a JD from Union University’s Albany Law School, and a master’s in environmental law from Vermont Law School.
Todd Ford
Leading the company’s strategy, Todd brings over 12 years of renewable energy experience, entrepreneurship, and strategic planning skills from his guidance of the Hampshire Council of Governments and its successful Hampshire Power programs. Before Gridwealth, Todd co-founded RiverStone Design Group, a sustainable urban design firm, and held various public sector roles. He has an MA in urban & environmental policy & planning from Tufts University and a BA in environmental studies from St. Lawrence University.
